RISTTEE HORTICULTURE FARM

The Risttee farmstead is located ca 10 km south of Viljandi, near Loodi Manor, across the road of Loodi-Püstmäe larch.

The farmstead lies between big fields, open to the winds. The maintainable site is 1,5 hectares big.The garden is  spacious and continues to be developed.  Whilst some of the garden is quite young, there are also many established plantings set. Both north and south of the garden is furbished with a lot of different strains of woody plants. There are over 900 different perennials and about 300 woody plants in the garden collection. Since we are located in quite a cold area, there are limits to grow.

The garden is divided into three areas so there are both newer and older parts. There is a big rockery with dry stream where houseleeks and other rockery plants are growing, a small pond and a wide variety of flower beds. A lot of fieldstones have been used in the garden as a decorative elements. As appropriate to a decent farmstead, there are fruit trees, berry shrubs and a little patch for potatoes and different herbs. The garden is free shaped.

In the year 2000, the Risttee farm got recognized by the prime minister Mart Laar. In 2005 our garden was declared to be the most beautiful in Paistu parish and in 2006 we got awarded by the president in beautiful Estonian homes contest. A special prize was recieved in 2015 in a contest made by Kodu&Aed.

VISTING INFORMATION: The garden can be visited by prior agreement.

There is also a little nursery, where you can be find many perennials species and varieties.
